BP BUMN Targets Streamlining PLN Group from 44 Business Entities to 23
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of BP BUMN and simultaneously COO of Danantara Indonesia, Dony Oskaria, is targeting the simplification of PLN Group’s 44 business entities into 23 entities by the year 2028.
“Accelerating transformation and strengthening the reliability of the electricity system is key to ensuring PLN can more effectively support national energy security,” Dony stated in an official release confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday.
A primary focus of this target is the acceleration of the PLN Group streamlining programme through consolidation, divestment, business portfolio restructuring, and the simplification of the business structure.
The reduction from 44 entities to 23 entities aims to increase operational efficiency, strengthen corporate governance, and create a more focused and integrated business structure.
This target was one of the key discussion points during a meeting between Dony and the PLN board of directors. In addition to the streamlining of business entities, Dony also discussed the implementation of the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), as well as measures to strengthen the electricity system following recent disruptions in Sumatra.
PLN reported positive progress in the implementation of the 2025–2034 RUPTL. Of the total planned projects, approximately 1,634 projects, or nearly 40 per cent, have entered the execution phase.
This achievement reflects PLN’s commitment to accelerating the development of national electricity infrastructure, ranging from the construction of power plants and transmission networks to substations, to meet the ever-increasing energy demand.
The discussions also highlighted steps to strengthen the electricity system following disruptions in Sumatra. PLN continues to evaluate and reinforce the system to improve the reliability of the power supply. Several strategic projects are being prepared, including the strengthening of Sumatra’s electricity backbone infrastructure, the construction of 500 kV, 275 kV, and 150 kV transmission networks, and the addition of generation capacity in various regions to bolster system resilience and minimise the risk of future disruptions.
Through continuous corporate transformation, the accelerated implementation of the RUPTL, and the strengthening of the national electricity system, PLN is expected to be increasingly prepared to fulfil its role as a reliable national electricity provider while supporting economic growth, investment, and Indonesia’s energy transition agenda.
