Jakarta (ANTARA) - The State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board (BP BUMN) has appointed a number of echelon I and II officials as a strategic move to strengthen leadership and accelerate the transformation of state-owned enterprise (BUMN) management to be more professional and competitive. The inauguration was led by the Head of BP BUMN, Dony Oskaria, in Jakarta on Tuesday, and was attended by the Deputy Head of BP BUMN, Tedi Bharata, the Deputy Head of BP BUMN, Aminuddin Ma’ruf, and the board of directors of BUMN. “This inauguration is the beginning of a long journey and represents our collective commitment to carry out a transformation in the management of BUMN in the future,” said Dony. He emphasised that the transformation requires commitment, hard work, and consistency, while also demanding that all officials abandon old, unproductive practices. “Being an official is not the time to enjoy the position, but the time to work harder and face increasingly complex challenges,” he said. Dony also stressed the importance of synergy between BP BUMN and BPI Danantara in managing state-owned enterprises. According to him, both institutions have complementary roles, with BP BUMN focusing on setting strategic policies for the management of BUMN, while Danantara manages the BUMN companies. In addition, Dony revealed that BP BUMN is preparing a major agenda for the restructuring of BUMN, including simplifying the number of entities. He said that more than 1,000 BUMN entities are planned to be streamlined to around 200–300 entities through various corporate actions, such as mergers, divestments, liquidations, and restructurings, which he considers to be the largest corporate restructuring ever undertaken. He also asked all officials to maintain integrity and professionalism in carrying out their duties so that BUMN becomes more transparent and accountable and can be passed on well to future generations. “I ask for the commitment and hard work of all officials to leave the best legacy for the country,” he said. Dony hopes that the appointed and sworn-in officials will be able to carry out their duties professionally and with integrity, while also strengthening cross-sectoral synergy to ensure that BUMN continues to make an optimal contribution to the country and society.
