BP BUMN: Garuda Group Ready to Dominate Domestic Aviation Market

Dony Oskaria, Head of BP BUMN and COO of Danantara, said Danantara together with BP BUMN continues to push for the consolidation of state-owned airlines as a strategic step to strengthen the national aviation industry. Through this move, Dony said, Pelita will become part of Garuda Indonesia Group in order to build a national airline that is more solid, efficient and competitive.

“Garuda Indonesia will become the holding company for state-owned airlines, while Pelita will join as part of the Garuda Group,” Dony said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026).

According to him, this consolidation will strengthen the group’s capacity in facing competition in the aviation industry. With this consolidation, Dony said, the companies will have stronger capabilities to compete and dominate the market.

Beyond strengthening the corporate structure, Dony emphasised that the aviation industry is a business requiring high precision and rapid decision-making in every operational aspect to keep company performance on track. He said the aviation industry demands meticulousness and must be managed day by day, minute by minute.

“Once a plane takes off, we can already measure the profit or loss of that flight. That is why it is important to analyse every route and connectivity,” Dony continued.

In line with this, BP BUMN and Danantara are also pushing for a comprehensive improvement in Garuda Group’s service standards, from pre-flight, in-flight to post-flight. Service enhancement is being carried out through the integration of ticketing systems, improved lounge quality, the in-cabin experience, cabin crew service standards, catering quality, strengthened customer loyalty programmes, and human resource development.

“Through this consolidation and the improvement of service quality across the entire passenger journey chain, Garuda Group is expected to become the airline of first choice for the Indonesian public while enhancing its competitiveness as a major player at the regional level,” Dony said.
