BP BUMN and Danantara Involve Attorney General's Office and BPK to Oversee BUMN Streamlining
The BUMN Supervisory Board (BP BUMN) and Danantara Indonesia are strengthening efforts to restructure and simplify state-owned enterprises (BUMN) by involving several state institutions to oversee the streamlining process. This step is taken to ensure the entire process proceeds within legal corridors, transparently, and accountably. This commitment was realised through the formation of a BUMN Streamlining Oversight Team involving the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Law, the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). The team held a strategic coordination meeting at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Friday (3/7/2026). The meeting was attended by, among others, Reda Manthovani and his staff, as well as Deputy Minister of Law Eddy Hiariej. The involvement of these law enforcement and financial oversight agencies is part of the government’s effort to ensure the BUMN restructuring process is carried out with good governance. The government believes that strengthening oversight from the outset is necessary so that the policy of revitalising state-owned companies can run effectively while minimising potential legal issues in the future. Junior Attorney General for Intelligence, Reda Manthovani, stated that the meeting aimed to provide input regarding the streamlining process for BUMNs so that all stages are carried out in accordance with applicable legal procedures. ‘Today’s meeting is to provide input regarding the streamlining of BUMNs so that they are organised effectively, based on applicable legal procedures, and of course we want BUMNs to be more effective and efficient in the future because they are one of the hearts of our national economy,’ said Reda, as quoted from his official Instagram account. According to Reda, strengthening governance is a crucial aspect because BUMNs play a strategic role as drivers of the national economy. Therefore, the process of restructuring state-owned companies must result in BUMNs that are healthier, more efficient, and have stronger competitiveness. Previously, Republika reported that the government is carrying out a major transformation agenda for BUMNs through BP BUMN and Danantara. The institution was formed to manage state assets and investments in a more integrated manner while encouraging an increase in the value of state-owned companies. On various occasions, the government has also emphasised that the streamlining programme is not merely about reducing the number of BUMNs, but rather simplifying business structures through consolidation, mergers, or the restructuring of subsidiaries to avoid business overlaps. This step is expected to increase operational efficiency, strengthen corporate governance, and enhance BUMNs’ contribution to national economic growth. Through joint oversight by the Attorney General’s Office, the Ministry of Law, BPKP, and BPK, the government hopes the transformation process will proceed professionally, transparently, and provide legal certainty for all parties involved.
