BP Batam strengthens strategic partnerships with Germany and Japan
The Batam Authority (BP Batam) in the Riau Islands is strengthening strategic partnerships with Germany and Japan as part of efforts to expand its global investment network and discuss collaboration and investment opportunities in the maritime and technology sectors.
Fary Djemy Francis, Deputy for Investment and Business Operations, stated that economic diplomacy is a strategic step to strengthen Batam’s position within global investment flows.
“Batam continues to transform into an execution hub that connects investment flows and supply chains between Europe and Asia,” he said in an official statement received in Batam on Wednesday.
A BP Batam delegation led by Fary held meetings with German Ambassador Ralf Beste on 23 February 2026 and Japanese Deputy Chief of Mission Kenji Enoshita on 24 February 2026.
During these meetings, BP Batam presented its policy transformation over the past year, including strengthened unified licensing authority through Government Regulation Number 25 of 2025 and the expansion of the Batam Free Trade and Free Port Zone through Government Regulation Number 47 of 2025.
“These policies form the foundation for increasing business certainty, accelerating investment processes, and optimising the region’s maritime and logistics potential,” said Fary.
