BP Batam Steps In During Power Outage to Support Businesses
Electricity supplies in several parts of Batam city, Riau Islands, were disrupted for nearly 16 hours on Monday (12 October). BP Batam inspected several facilities across the city, including hospitals.
BP Batam’s Deputy for Investment, led by Fary Djemy Francis, immediately deployed a team to visit industrial estates, investors, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and public-service facilities, including hospitals. The visits aimed to hear directly about the difficulties faced by businesses, provide updates and ensure communication and assistance continued.
“We appreciate PLN Batam’s hard work in accelerating the restoration. In a situation like this, what is needed is not only a technical solution, but also care and solidarity. BP Batam wants to be present, listen and ensure that investors and businesses do not have to face these difficulties alone,” Fary Djemy Francis said in a statement on Tuesday (13 October 2026).
Johanes Kennedy Aritonang, chairman of Panbil Group, also praised PLN Batam’s swift response and BP Batam’s concern in visiting businesses to listen and offer support during a difficult situation. Ali Ulai, chairman of the Riau Islands chapter of IPERINDO, likewise commended PLN Batam’s readiness and BP Batam’s presence, saying it strengthened solidarity among the government, infrastructure providers and industry.
For BP Batam, the incident was a reminder of the importance of continuing to strengthen infrastructure reliability, service quality and cooperation among all stakeholders.
“Investor confidence is built not only when everything is going well, but also through the way we show up and support one another when facing difficulties. Every challenge must become an opportunity to learn, improve and make Batam better,” Fary said.
