BP-7 to be dissolved: Alwi Dahlan
JAKARTA (JP): The government institution which disseminates the Pancasila state ideology, BP-7, will soon be dissolved as decreed by the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), its chief officer Alwi Dahlan said on Wednesday.
"We are just waiting for a presidential decision because the BP-7 was established under a presidential decree," he was quoted by Antara as telling reporters here.
In its special session last week, the Assembly passed MPR Decree No 18/1998 which revokes MPR Decree No II/1978 on the teaching and implementation of Pancasila.
MPR Decree No II/1972 made Pancasila the sole ideology to be followed by the people and political organizations in the country.
BP-7 runs training courses and seminars on Pancasila across the country.
Dahlan said that President B.J. Habibie has yet to make a decision on the dissolution of BP-7 because he is still preoccupied with the campaign to follow up on the other 11 decrees passed by the MPR last week.
He also told BP-7 employees not to worry because they are civil servants and would therefore be transferred to other government institutions.
