Boy killed as driver falls asleep

BEKASI (JP): A 10-year old boy was killed yesterday when the
van carrying him and 10 family members overturned after hitting a
railing at the Cikampek-Jakarta toll road.

The boy, Idris, was traveling with his family from Cilacap,
Central Java, when the driver, Maman, fell asleep, leading to the
tragic accident in the early hours of Tuesday.

The boy and his family were traveling to attend a cousin's
wedding party.

Idris was thrown out of the roof of the car and killed
instantly while the other passengers escaped with injuries. They
are currently being treated at the Bekasi public hospital and UKI
hospital in Jakarta.

At the Bekasi public hospital, Maman, who looked pale and
weary, told The Jakarta Post that he was so tired and sleepy that
he lost control of the car. (12/mds)
