Boy Found Dead After Being Swept Away by Waves at Ampenan Beach
A 13-year-old boy swept away by waves at Ampenan Beach in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), was found dead this morning. The victim, Pietro Alesandro Seda, was discovered by residents in the Pantai Malbau area of Karang Buyuk, Ampenan Selatan.
Ampenan District Police Chief AKP Muhammad Ryanto stated on Saturday (30 May 2026) that the found body was the same child reported missing the previous day at Pantai Skip. Ryanto explained that a passerby initially spotted an object floating in the sea, which they thought was a coconut shell. Upon closer inspection, the object turned out to be the body of a young boy.
“The residents were shocked to discover that the floating object was the body of a child previously reported missing after being dragged by the waves,” Ryanto added. “The victim’s body has been taken to Bhayangkara Hospital for further examination.”
Previously, Pietro Alesandro Seda was reported to have been swept away at Pantai Skip on Friday (29 May). He was swimming with eight friends when large waves suddenly surged, dragging them into the sea. All of Pietro’s friends managed to reach the shore safely.
In another incident, a nine-year-old girl named Anindita Mantika Muslim was also swept away while playing near the shoreline at Pantai Karang Buyuk in Mataram on Friday. Like Pietro, large waves unexpectedly carried her out to sea.
