The incident occurred at approximately 2:45 PM WIB. The truck, bearing registration number B-9950-PXR, suddenly began emitting smoke from the rear section of the driver’s cabin, where a stack of cardboard boxes was located.

“The preliminary suspicion is that the fire was triggered by engine heat and a short circuit in the vehicle’s electrical system,” stated the Chief of Tangerang City Metro Police, Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, in a statement to reporters on Thursday (4/6/2026).

At the same time, officers from the Jaga Jakarta patrol unit who were passing by immediately intervened. Equipped with portable fire extinguishers (APAR) carried during their patrol, the officers managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread further.

There were no fatalities in the incident. However, the truck driver sustained burns to his arms, and traffic flow was temporarily disrupted by congestion.

“The injured driver subsequently received medical treatment,” Jauhari added.

Commissioner Jauhari noted that the presence of officers in the field aims not only to maintain public security and order but also to provide service and assistance to citizens in need.

“The JAGA JAKARTA+ patrol is a manifestation of the National Police’s presence within the community. When emergency conditions such as vehicle fires on highways are discovered, officers are obligated to act swiftly to provide assistance, secure the situation, and prevent greater risks,” said Jauhari.

According to the Chief, the rapid response from officers in the field successfully prevented the fire from spreading, which could have endangered the driver and other road users.

“Alhamdulillah, the fire was quickly extinguished using the extinguishers carried by the officers, preventing a larger impact. Public safety remains the top priority in every police operation,” he concluded.
