Box Truck Overturns After Tyre Burst on Priok Toll Road, Cargo Scattered

The Head of the Traffic Police Unit of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, AKBP Rieki Indra Brata Manggala, stated that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle following a tyre burst, which subsequently caused the truck to overturn. “The driver of the box vehicle lost control (due to a burst rear right tyre) and veered out of the lane,” he said on Monday (18/5/2026).

The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 WIB this afternoon. The accident began while the vehicle was travelling from the direction of Tanjung Priok towards Cawang. “The box vehicle was in lane 3, approaching the scene, when the rear right tyre burst,” he explained.

The vehicle then overturned to the left, facing south. He confirmed that there were no fatalities in the accident. The vehicle has since been evacuated. “There were no human casualties; the loss is limited to the box vehicle, which sustained damage to its front and left side,” he added.

In circulating video footage, the cargo from the overturned truck can be seen scattered across the roadway, with numerous cardboard boxes spilled onto the road.
