Both at KPK, Gus Yaqut Sends Regards to Gus Ipul
Jakarta, VIVA – Former Minister of Religious Affairs and suspect in the alleged Hajj quota corruption case, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas or Gus Yaqut, was once again summoned by the KPK on Friday, 8 May 2026.
The summoning of Gus Yaqut was to extend the detention period for the next phase.
“This second detention extension is for the next 30 days. This extension is needed because the investigation is still ongoing, and investigators are continuing to examine several witnesses,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when confirmed by reporters.
Meanwhile, based on observations, Gus Yaqut left the KPK building around 10:36 WIB wearing an orange vest.
Before entering the detention vehicle, Gus Yaqut did not say anything about today’s summoning. Instead, he entrusted greetings for Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul.
“Nothing (to say). Greetings to Gus Ipul, yes,” said Gus Yaqut briefly to the media.
It is known that on the same day, Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul was holding an audience with the KPK. His visit was to consult and report developments regarding the procurement of goods and services at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The Minister’s visit was also to seek input and criticism. This is because the procurement to be carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs will take place in 2026.
“We are also starting the implementation of procurement in 2026; we want the President’s strategic programmes, especially the People’s School, not to be tainted by corruption practices,” said Gus Ipul.
Meanwhile, regarding Gus Yaqut, his detention period has been extended for the next 30 days. This extension is because investigators are still conducting the investigation related to the alleged Hajj quota corruption case.
The KPK is also conducting marathon examinations of several Hajj Special Worship Organisers (PIHK) following the determination of two new suspects, namely the Operational Director of PT Makassar Toraja (Maktour), Ismail Adham, and the Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama as well as Chairman of the Kesthuri Association, Asrul Azis Taba.
