Boss of Online Gambling Headquarters in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta, Becomes Target
Police have arrested 321 individuals during a raid on an online gambling (judol) headquarters in a building on Jalan Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta. Polri has pledged to capture the boss of the online gambling headquarters.
“We remain committed to investigating all the way to the top,” said the Director of General Criminal Acts (Dirtipidum) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, as quoted on Sunday (10/5/2026).
He stated that the arrested foreign nationals (WNA) held positions no higher than coordinators. He assured that the case would be thoroughly investigated.
“What we have now are only at the level of coordinators for each type of work they do, or their roles as perpetrators,” he said.
Wira explained that the foreign nationals were arrested while operating an online gambling website. He noted that the majority of the foreign nationals were from Vietnam, numbering 228 people. Additionally, there were 57 from China, 13 from Myanmar, 11 from Laos, five from Thailand, and three each from Malaysia and Cambodia.
“The perpetrators were caught red-handed, meaning they were carrying out operational activities or online gambling operations,” he said.
He mentioned that the foreign nationals entered Indonesia with tourist visas or permits. None of them had work permits.
“They all used tourist visas; none had work permits,” he said.
Wira stated that the gambling headquarters was suspected to have been operating for about two months. The perpetrators are believed to have rented the building floor as a centre for organised cross-border digital operations.
“The perpetrators generally live in the areas around this tower. So, the upper floors are purely used for gambling operations,” said Wira.
The Secretary of NCB Interpol Indonesia from the Polri International Relations Division, Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, said that these foreign nationals entered Indonesia using tourist visas valid for only 30 days. According to him, the 321 individuals had overstayed, meaning they no longer had permission to stay in Indonesia.
“For visa-free or tourist visas, immigration only allows 30 days. That means if they have been here for two months, they have overstayed. They have committed immigration crimes,” said Untung.
Untung stated that Polri is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Polri proposes the formation of a special task force to handle countries on the subject of interest (SOI) list.
“If left unchecked, if only Polri takes action, it will not be effective. We need to sit together to consolidate and form a task force,” said Untung.
