Bosnian and Croatian firms seek partners
JAKARTA (JP): A delegation of six business executives from
Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, here for a seven-day visit, are
looking for partners to establish joint ventures in various
sectors in Indonesia and their war-torn countries.
"We are ready to make joint ventures in various industries,"
the leader of the delegation, Ibrahim Dedic, told The Jakarta
Post yesterday.
Ibrahim, who arrived Monday evening, said that his delegation
would hold meetings with Indonesian company executives as well as
officials of a number of ministries during their stay.
"We will also hold meetings with executives of 12 Indonesian
banks to discuss possibilities of opening correspondence
relations with our banks to support trade relations between
Indonesia and Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina," Ibrahim said, who
is also chairman of Promdei Bank of Croatia.
He said businesses in the shipbuilding, aluminum, petroleum,
wood, metal, textile, construction, tourism and agricultural
sectors in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina will offer high profits
to Indonesian investors.
Depositing money in the banks of the two former Yugoslav
states will also offer high profits because deposits are not
taxed there, he said.
Ibrahim said Indonesian investors should not necessarily be
worried about their investments in the two countries because all
their investments will be insured with premium payments of 1.5
percent at the maximum.
He said the delegation is also interested in making
investments in Indonesia in the production of engines, electric
transformators, cables and food as well as in the construction of
highways and railway facilities.
Ibrahim said his delegation is following up the mission of
Croatian Prime Minister Nikica Valentic, who visited Indonesia in
the middle of January to promote economic relations between his
country and Indonesia.
The delegates, who have already visited Malaysia, will also
tour Iran next week for investment promotions after their
Indonesian visit. (riz)
