Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) indicates that the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) for university graduates remains a concern at 5.39% in 2025. Meanwhile, a World Economic Forum report projects that 39% of core workforce skills will change over the next five years. This underscores the growing gap between academia and industry needs.

To address these challenges, collaboration between education and industry is no longer optional but a strategic necessity. Therefore, Binus is collaborating with Bosch to invite students not only to learn concepts but also to directly analyse real business challenges, from local market adaptation strategies to the dynamics of global industrial supply chains.

The business challenges being dissected include: The Future of Mobility: The transition to electric and hydrogen vehicles as the future of the global automotive industry, including in Indonesia; Local Adaptation Strategies: The importance of a “local-for-local” approach, where products and strategies are tailored to meet the unique demands of the domestic market; and Supply Chain Resilience: Case studies on strategic investment decisions, including in the semiconductor industry, as a response to geopolitical and global economic dynamics.

In essence, this approach brings students out of the theoretical zone into the actual complexities of business decision-making.

“Through the integrated project in the Multinational Corporation Management course, students have the opportunity to directly engage in understanding the complexities of multinational company operations,” stated Dr Ami Fitri Utama, Head of the International Business Programme at BINUS International.

This experience not only enriches students’ practical insights, she added, but also serves as an important foundation in shaping their global competencies to face challenges and opportunities in the international business world.

From the industry’s perspective, sharing practical experiences is seen as a vital contribution to building a strong talent ecosystem. This is not just about knowledge transfer but also about fostering agile and adaptive mindsets.

“In a market like Indonesia, success is not only determined by innovation but also by the ability to manage costs, maintain quality, and ensure compliance with global standards. Through this collaboration, we want to share that perspective directly with the younger generation,” explained Bernard Simanjuntak, Country Sales Director of Bosch Mobility Indonesia.

He further emphasised that, as one of Southeast Asia’s largest economies, Indonesia serves as a real laboratory for students to understand business dynamics in emerging markets, from market scale and regulatory complexities to localisation needs.

In this context, he believes that the collaboration between Bosch and Binus not only contributes to education but also strengthens the national talent ecosystem in alignment with future industry needs.

The programme will run until June 2026 and will conclude with student presentations of innovative solutions to the given industry challenges.

More than just an academic programme, this initiative is expected to serve as a model for sustainable collaboration between education and industry, capable of accelerating the readiness of Indonesian talent while supporting national economic competitiveness.
