Borussia Dortmund Beats Bremen 2-0, Records Highest Points Total Since 2019
Borussia Dortmund secured a 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen in the final match of the Bundesliga season, marking their highest points total since the 2018/19 campaign.
Dortmund entered the match with an impressive record of only one defeat in their last 14 encounters against Bremen, and they started confidently. Serhou Guirassy and Samuele Inácio immediately threatened the Bremen goal, but goalkeeper Mio Backhaus managed to keep them at bay.
The first half saw Dortmund dominate possession, with Guirassy having a golden opportunity inside the penalty area, but his header sailed over the bar. Bremen gradually found their rhythm and even had a moment of celebration when Amos Pieper scored from a set-piece, only for the goal to be disallowed due to offside.
Dortmund continued their attacking momentum in the second half, and the deadlock was broken in the 59th minute when Guirassy headed home a cross from Julian Ryerson. This marked his 17th Bundesliga goal of the season.
Dortmund pushed for a second goal, with Felix Nmecha coming close, but Bremen also had their chances, forcing Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel into action. However, Bremen’s resistance was finally broken in the closing stages when Yan Couto scored from a quick counter-attack to seal the victory.
The win saw Borussia Dortmund finish the season with 73 points, a strong performance despite finishing behind champions Bayern Munich. Werder Bremen ended the season in 15th place.
