Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur is welcoming the 2026 school holiday season with a series of tourism programmes titled ‘Liburan Nyaman Penuh Makna’ (A Comfortable and Meaningful Holiday), combining cultural, educational, and family recreational experiences with reflective journeys for visitors. Gistang Panutur, Commercial Director of InJourney Destination Management (IDM), stated in Magelang, Central Java, on Tuesday that a variety of activities have been prepared to provide a meaningful experience by inviting visitors to explore the rich cultural heritage, arts, and noble values contained within Borobudur Temple. He conveyed that this school holiday programme series is part of IDM’s efforts to present experiences that enrich insight and build public closeness to cultural heritage. “Borobudur Temple is not only a world architectural masterpiece but also a learning space that holds historical, cultural, and spiritual values. Through the School Holiday programme series at Borobudur Temple, we want tourists to enjoy their holiday while getting to know the richness of Indonesian culture more closely,” he said. He noted that one of the featured experiences is Tanceping Niat, a reflective journey that invites tourists to reconnect with themselves through the Unfinished Buddha statue. This programme provides a space for tourists to enjoy a moment of silence, express hopeful intentions, and serve as a release moment in a serene atmosphere. The Tanceping Niat programme begins on 21 June 2026. For families wishing to provide an educational holiday experience for children, Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur is also presenting the Junior Wanderer Holiday Adventure: Family Fun Trip to Borobudur programme. This programme is designed as a cultural exploration journey that invites children to learn about the historical traces of Borobudur Temple, as well as the natural landscape that is part of the beauty of the Borobudur area. The programme takes place on 5 July 2026 with a ticket price of IDR 150,000, while parents only need to purchase a Borobudur Temple entrance ticket. Additionally, a cultural learning experience is presented through the Junior Wanderer Heritage Lab located at the Samudraraksa Ship Museum and the Karmawibhangga Museum. Tourists can participate in a series of workshops, such as wayang colouring classes, gamelan classes, and dance classes. Through this programme, tourists can take part in various creative activities every weekend from 27 June to 12 July 2026 by purchasing tickets directly for IDR 45,000. Besides presenting spiritual and reflective experiences, tourists can also enjoy cultural art performances through the Tari Kidung Tribangga held in the Plaza Beringin area of Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur. This performance, which features stories from the Borobudur Temple reliefs, will be staged on 20, 26 June, and 5 July 2026 from 15:00 to 15:30 WIB. The school holiday festivities are further enlivened by the presence of Kampung Dolan, a nostalgic space for traditional games that invites families and children to rediscover various typical Indonesian games. Located in the Samudraraksa Ship Museum area, Kampung Dolan runs from 20 June to 16 July 2026. Through this activity, visitors not only get entertainment but also an experience of learning the values of togetherness, creativity, and local wisdom contained in traditional games. He conveyed that another series of art performances is also present through the Pentas Seni Aneka Tari held in two different locations. In the Plaza Beringin area, tourists can watch the Sendratari Geger Goa Kiskendo on 24 June 2026 and Tari Menak Kontjer on 1 July 2026 from 15:00 to 15:30 WIB. Meanwhile, at the Amphitheater Kampung Seni Borobudur, visitors can enjoy the Tari Warok Manunggal performance on 28 June 2026 and Tari Topeng Ireng on 3 July 2026 at 15:00 WIB.
