The Borobudur Peace & Prosperity Festival (BPF) 2026 is set to return in conjunction with the Vesak celebrations, carrying the theme ‘One Light One World’. Taking place from 29–31 May 2026, the festival serves as a space for cross-cultural, spiritual, and humanitarian encounters, inviting the public to celebrate shared values of peace and prosperity in the Borobudur region.

Various historical temples in the Borobudur area will feature in the festival’s itinerary, reinforcing the idea that cultural heritage is not merely a relic of the past but an inspiration for the future. The series of events begins with the Merti Karuna Bhumi Festival & Larung Pelita Purnama Sidhi 2026 at Pawon Temple and the Progo River, followed by the BPF 2026 grand finale at Borobudur Temple, and concludes with the Bhumi Mandala and Hot Air Balloon Festival 2026 at Ngawen Temple, which has successfully attracted over 2,000 enthusiastic visitors from both domestic and international origins.

The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, delivered a speech during the grand finale at Borobudur Temple and the public festivities at Ngawen Temple. During her address, she expressed appreciation for the prayers offered by six religious leaders, reflecting the unity of the global community, and emphasised that Indonesia demonstrates a tangible spirit of interfaith and intercultural unity.

“Rinpoche himself brought more than 200 disciples from abroad to Borobudur. This is not merely a Vesak commemoration, but also a festival for the local residents who are closely connected to Borobudur Temple. Here, people of different ethnicities, races, and religions—whether celebrating Vesak religiously or not—all come together to advance the economy and foster togetherness, driven by one word: Love,” stated Irene.

A highly anticipated moment includes the presence of the 2026 Puteri Indonesia quartet, Savikara, acting as BPF Ambassadors immediately following their coronation. The ambassadors include Agnes Aditya Rahajeng (Banten), Victoria Titisari Kosasieputri (Bali), Gisela Belicia Alma Thesalonica (Jakarta 2), and Karina Moudy Widodo (Jakarta 3).

The four ambassadors represent different sub-festivals and are actively involved in various activities, ranging from social actions such as river clean-ups and cultural preservation through dance and music, to creating collaborative spaces that connect local MSMEs with domestic and international tourists.

As Puteri Indonesia 2026, Agnes Aditya Rahajeng expressed her gratitude for being able to celebrate life, humanity, and peace at the festival. “It is a truly extraordinary opportunity to attend the Borobudur Peace and Prosperity Festival 2026. The events are so vibrant and warm, celebrating culture, civilisation, peace, and certainly humanity. As today is also Vesak, I wish everyone and all living beings continued happiness and prosperity,” she said.

Amidst various global socio-political challenges, BPF 2026 invites individuals to be more than just spectators, but part of a collective movement to foster hope, strengthen brotherhood, and create a positive impact on the surrounding environment. This spirit aligns with the vision of its initiator, Ricky Surya Prakasa from the Meccaya Surya Prakasa Foundation.
