Magelang (ANTARA) - Sabrina Alfin Amelia, a leukemia survivor from Yogyakarta, participated in batik making and pottery workshops as part of the Cancer Survivors Camp held in the Borobudur area, Magelang, Central Java, on Thursday, 17 September 2026.

The activity provided her with an opportunity to meet fellow survivors and a space to explore her creativity.

While learning batik, Sabrina admitted to facing difficulties due to a lack of precision and occasional tremors, resulting in work that was not as neat as she had hoped.

“Personally, I lack precision and also experience some tremors, so it is not very neat. However, so far we have enjoyed every part of the programme,” she said.

Approximately 50 participants from the Cancer Survivors Camp, representing various regions including Jabodetabek, Makassar, Medan, Bali, and Yogyakarta, attended the event from 17–19 September 2026.

The gathering served as an opportunity for childhood cancer survivors to congregate, support one another, share experiences, and build friendships after completing their medical treatments.

Sabrina has been free from treatment for approximately 27 years. The experience in Borobudur gave her the chance to learn and practice traditional arts firsthand.

“Today I participated in batik and pottery training. Here, we are provided with a platform and facilities alongside friends from TWC. It is certainly a point of pride to be able to help preserve our culture,” she remarked.

Meeting and creating together

The activity is part of the Inyuni Community Care programme, a collaboration between PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) and the Indonesian Childhood Oncology Foundation.
