Borneo FC Determined to Fight Until the End for the BRI Super League Championship Title 2025/2026
Borneo FC’s coach, Fabio Lefundes, has affirmed that his team remains determined to compete for the championship title in the 2025/2026 BRI Super League season until the very last match.
Currently, Borneo FC is in second place in the standings with 75 points, equal to Persib Bandung at the top. However, Borneo FC has a weaker head-to-head record against Persib Bandung.
The chance for the championship remains open for Borneo FC if they win their remaining two matches and hope that Persib Bandung loses points in their final match of the season.
“We have two more matches where we will try to get full points from these last two matches,” said Lefundes, quoted from the official I.League website, Sunday (17/5).
In the upcoming match, Borneo FC is scheduled to face Persijap Jepara at Gelora Bumi Kartini Stadium, Jepara, on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM WIB. At the same time, Persib Bandung will play an away match against PSM Makassar.
Although Borneo FC won 3-1 against Persijap in their first meeting, Lefundes believes that this match will not be easy. He expects the home team to give their best performance in front of their supporters.
“We anticipate a difficult match because they will definitely want to give their best at home,” said the Brazilian coach.
The difference in position between the two teams in the standings is quite significant, with Borneo FC currently in the top spot and Persijap Jepara in 13th place with 34 points.
Amidst the fierce competition for the championship title with Persib Bandung, Lefundes stated that he does not feel pressured. According to him, this situation actually provides additional motivation for him and all the players to continue giving their best performance.
“It’s not pressure, but rather I feel much more motivated. Motivation to keep doing our job,” he concluded. (ant/E-4)
