The Motaain Border Crossing Post (PLBN), managed by the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of Indonesia, held a Subsidised Market Operation. The aim was to assist border communities in meeting their essential needs with affordable prices in the border area of Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

In the event held on Tuesday (14/4/2026), PLBN Motaain distributed 5kg packs of rice from the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) at Rp60,000 per sack. A total of 9 tons of rice was provided and fully absorbed by the community who crowded the location from early morning.

Head of PLBN Motaain, Maria Fatima Rika, stated that the Subsidised Market Operation is a tangible form of the state’s presence in maintaining price stability and ensuring food availability for communities in border areas. According to her, the high enthusiasm of residents shows that the need for access to affordable essentials remains very significant.

“The Subsidised Market Operation is one of the concrete steps by the government through BNPP in maintaining price stability and ensuring food availability for border communities. We are grateful that all the provided rice, amounting to 9 tons, was well absorbed by the community,” said Rika in a written statement on Thursday (16/4/2026).

She added that in the future, similar activities will continue to be encouraged through synergy with various parties so that the benefits can be felt more widely by border communities.

For information, at the same time in the PLBN Motaain area, a Capacity Building activity for Micro-Entrepreneurs in the Ikat Weaving Sector is also underway, organised by the Assistant Deputy for Land Border Area Potential (Asdep PKPD) of BNPP RI.

“Through various such programmes, PLBN Motaain continues to affirm its role not only as a state gateway but also as a centre for services and a driver of welfare for border communities, in line with the government’s commitment to strengthening development from the fringes,” she concluded.
