BoP Urges International Support for Gaza Conflict Resolution Roadmap
Istanbul (ANTARA) - The Board of Peace (BoP) has reaffirmed its primary objectives for Gaza and called for international support to implement a roadmap to end the conflict, ahead of the meeting of world leaders at the UN General Assembly in New York.
In a statement on X, the board, chaired by US President Donald Trump, stated that shared goals include the demilitarisation and deradicalisation of Gaza, sustained humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and effective Palestinian civilian governance and security.
The board also noted that these objectives encompass the creation of long-scale security for both Palestinian and Israeli citizens.
According to the board, the plan has paved the way for the release and return of all Israeli hostages, the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, and subsequent steps including UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and the establishment of the Board of Peace.
The board stated that the agreement with Hamas on 30 July provides a roadmap for the next phase of the ceasefire, including demilitarisation, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, Palestinian governance, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
The BoP urged all parties to fulfil their commitments and avoid actions that could disrupt the ceasefire.
The board also requested that international partners translate their political support into tangible commitments to assist in the implementation of the roadmap.
“The UN General Assembly provides an opportunity to consolidate the international community behind a single agreed-upon framework,” the board stated.
The board emphasised diplomacy as the primary means to achieve lasting peace and security in Gaza.
Since 8 October 2023, Israel has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured over 174,000 others in the war in Gaza. Approximately 90 per cent of the infrastructure in the region has also been damaged or destroyed.
