PT Bank HSBC Indonesia is expanding its wealth management product range by introducing the Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD mutual fund. This product provides clients with access to invest in the shares of global gold mining and precious metal companies.

Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD is a Sharia-based equity mutual fund managed by PT Batavia Prosperindo Aset Manajemen (BPAM). The fund is actively managed, offering investment flexibility across companies of various market capitalisations.

Lanny Hendra, International Wealth and Premier Banking Director at HSBC Indonesia, stated that the product was launched amidst rising investor interest in gold as a component of portfolio diversification.

“We see significant interest among investors regarding gold investments. Through Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD, clients can gain exposure to gold and precious metal mining companies, which also benefit from these positive trends,” Lanny said in a written statement released on Friday, 18 September 2026.

According to HSBC research, the medium-to-long-term prospects for gold remain positive, despite gold prices experiencing volatility due to geopolitical conflicts. Gold prices reached a record US$5,415 per ounce in January 2026 before undergoing a correction of approximately 20 per cent.

HSBC also noted that gold is increasingly viewed by investors as a strategic asset within a portfolio, rather than merely as a hedging instrument.

Based on the HSBC Global Affluent Investor Snapshot 2026, which surveyed nearly 10,000 affluent and high-net-worth investors across 10 global markets, both physical and digital gold are among the most widely held assets globally.

HSBC recorded that nine out of ten investors globally plan to maintain or increase their gold allocations. This situation presents opportunities for shares in gold and precious metal mining companies, whose performance is historically influenced by gold price trends and demand.

However, the movement of gold mining stocks does not always align perfectly with gold prices. Stock performance is also influenced by company-specific factors, including production costs and management execution.

Lilis Seti_adi, President Director of PT Batavia Prosperindo Aset Manajemen, said that Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD is intended to provide access to the growth potential of the global gold industry through mining company shares.

“As the role of gold in portfolio diversification increases, Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD is here to provide access to the potential growth of the global gold industry through investments focused on gold mining companies with strong fundamentals and long-term prospects,” said Lilis.

Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD is available to HSBC Indonesia clients with a minimum initial purchase of US$10,000. The product can be accessed via the HSBC Indonesia Mobile Banking application or through HSBC Indonesia branches.
