Boosting Village Economies, Red and White Village Cooperatives Receive Mahindra Pick-up Trucks
Thirty Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, have received operational vehicles in the form of Mahindra 4x4 pick-up trucks to support the distribution of agricultural produce, UMKM products, and village community logistics needs. The handover of these operational vehicles was carried out by the Commander of the Wijayakusuma Military Resort Command (Danrem) 071, Colonel Infantry Lukman Hakim, along with Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono, in the courtyard of the Banyumas District Military Command (Kodim) 0701 headquarters in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
Speaking after the event, the Danrem stated that in the initial phase, 30 units of Mahindra pick-up trucks were distributed to several KDMP operational points in Banyumas, with the number expected to increase further.
“Alhamdulillah, this morning (6/5/2026) we distributed Mahindra pick-up vehicles to several operational points. Currently, only around 30 units have been distributed, and this will continue to grow in the future,” he said.
He explained that the four-wheel-drive vehicles were chosen because they can access rural areas, even the most remote ones, to support community economic activities through village cooperatives.
“The hope is that in the villages, they can reach the remotest areas to collect agricultural produce for sale or distribute products sold at the Red and White Cooperatives,” he said.
In addition to providing operational vehicles, they are also monitoring the readiness of KDMP facilities and infrastructure in Banyumas. As of Wednesday (6/5/2026), 74 KDMP buildings have reached 100 per cent construction progress out of 167 units currently under construction.
“Up to today in Banyumas, 74 are complete at 100 per cent,” the Danrem emphasised.
He stated that several ready KDMP sites are planned to undergo initial launches on 16 May 2026 simultaneously with other regions across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono said the Banyumas Regency Government is fully committed to supporting the development of Red and White Village Cooperatives, as the programme is part of a national strategic project.
He is optimistic that hundreds of cooperatives spread across villages and wards in Banyumas can develop if managed professionally with good oversight systems.
“I am confident that if managed professionally, especially with coordinators to supervise, these cooperatives can operate and grow,” he said.
According to him, there are currently around 335 Red and White Village Cooperatives spread across 331 villages and wards in Banyumas.
Although there are still challenges regarding land provision in some areas, he is optimistic that these issues can be resolved.
Meanwhile, the Head of Kaliori Village in Kalibagor Subdistrict, Dino Sudjanto, welcomed the support of the operational vehicles positively, as it will strengthen cooperative services and village community economic activities.
“We are pleased; hopefully, the units we have received will truly be beneficial, especially for KDMP operations and the community,” he said.
He stated that the Kaliori KDMP is one of the most ready in Banyumas, with the cooperative building completed at 100 per cent and prepared to participate in the operational launch on 16 May. In addition to receiving the pick-up truck, they have also prepared several business units targeting community needs, UMKM products, and the agricultural sector.
