Jakarta, VIVA – The Ministry of Coordinating for Community Empowerment (Kemenko PM) is directly gathering aspirations from developers, investors, and practitioners to evaluate and strengthen gaming industry policies in the country.

This was carried out during the Public Hearing on the National Gaming Ecosystem titled “Strengthening from the Perspective of Gaming Industry Practitioners and Entrepreneurs” on Tuesday (31/3), at the Kemenko PM Office, Jakarta.

The Deputy for Coordinating Community Economic Empowerment and Migrant Worker Protection at Kemenko PM, Leontinus Alpha Edison, expressed his appreciation for the accelerating growth of the gaming subsector. Based on 2025 data, the export value of Indonesian game developers has reached $60.8 million, making it the fourth largest export contributor after the fashion, crafts, and culinary subsectors.

However, Leontinus emphasised the need for transparency in viewing the field reality, where the local gaming market share in the country itself is still around 1%, while the domestic market is dominated by imported products.

“The government is not standing still and has pushed for acceleration through Presidential Regulation No. 19 of 2024. The spirit is clear: we want locally made games to be the host in their own country and to shine on the global stage,” said Leontinus, quoted from his statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

He stressed that meaningful public participation is key in the policymaking process. According to him, the government realises that the implementation of regulations in the field often faces structural challenges that may not be perfectly accommodated by bureaucracy. Through this Public Hearing, the government deliberately positions itself as a listener to absorb all inputs, from funding obstacles to the dominance of foreign publishers.

“This afternoon, the positions are reversed. The government will be the listener, and industry players will be the main speakers. Please convey inputs, suggestions, complaints about pain points, or even harsh criticism to us. Don’t hold anything back,” Leontinus firmly stated.

Leontinus added that real inputs from practitioners are crucial so that the ecosystem formed aligns with actual needs, not just bureaucratic assumptions. The results of this discussion will later be formulated into concrete steps, including in the form of a Policy Brief, which is expected to be a game changer for the national gaming industry.
