Boosting Public Literacy and Environmental Awareness: Prudential Syariah's Strategy
PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance (Prudential Syariah) has committed to initiatives promoting environmental care and support for the education and literacy of Indonesian children, through its “Pilah Sampah” (Waste Sorting) and “Belanja Bareng Yatim” (Shopping with Orphans) programmes.
Chief Customer and Marketing Officer of Prudential Syariah, Vivin Arbianti Gautama, said that waste collected during the #1 Family Fest event was converted into 200 school kits, which were distributed to orphans through the Belanja Bareng Yatim activity together with Dompet Dhuafa in Jakarta.
“For Prudential Syariah, this activity is not merely about providing school supplies. The initiative is designed to create a meaningful learning experience whilst fostering an interest in reading and learning habits from an early age,” Vivin said in a statement on Monday, 7 September 2026.
She added that, for Prudential Syariah, sustainability is not only about protecting the environment, but also about delivering benefits that can be genuinely felt by the community.
Through this programme, the company wishes to demonstrate that simple steps such as sorting waste can grow into support for children’s education.
“Indeed, beyond that, we hope this activity can become a moment to cultivate an interest in reading, learning habits, and the spirit of pursuing aspirations from an early age,” she said.
As a form of that commitment, Prudential Syariah presented a storytelling session featuring stories about the importance of managing money in a way that is simple and easy for children to understand.
Through storybooks and educational tales delivered by volunteers, children were introduced to basic values such as saving, distinguishing between needs and wants, and the importance of sharing.
Not only that, Prudential Syariah also provided reading materials and books to the orphans, so that they have more opportunities to read, learn, and develop their potential.
In addition to accompanying the children in choosing their own school supplies, Prudential Syariah volunteers also took part in shared reading and storytelling sessions.
For Prudential Syariah, meaningful assistance is measured not only by what is given, but also by the experience, attention, and positive values that can be left with the beneficiaries.
“This approach also serves as an effort to foster a culture of care among employees through direct involvement in social activities,” Vivin said.
