Boosting Performance, BUMA International (DOID) Relies on Diversification and New Contracts
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT BUMA International Group Tbk (DOID) has reported its audited consolidated financial and operational performance for the fiscal year ending 31 December 2025.
In an official statement quoted on Saturday (28/3/2026), BUMA International Group stated that 2025 performance was significantly impacted by unprecedented operational disruptions, adverse weather conditions, as well as the ramp-down and completion of contracts in Indonesia and Australia.
Additionally, performance was influenced by non-operational costs, including provisions for trade receivables and impairments of assets in operations in Australia and the United States (US).
Despite facing these pressures, the Group recorded consistent operational recovery throughout the year, supported by structural improvements in productivity and reductions in unit costs.
Operationally, overburden removal volume fell 19% year-on-year (YoY) to 439 million bank cubic meters (MBCM). Meanwhile, coal production declined 6% year-on-year (YoY) to 84 million tonnes.
This decline reflects disruptions in the first quarter of 2025, weather challenges, and reduced contributions from several sites experiencing ramp-down and having completed operations.
EBITDA was recorded at US$175 million with a 14% margin. This decline was influenced by lower volumes, higher severance costs, and increased fuel expenses.
However, excluding severance costs, EBITDA was US$207 million with a 17% margin.
The Group also booked a net loss of US$128 million. This loss was driven by the decline in EBITDA, provisions for trade receivables from ended contracts in Australia, and asset impairments in Australia and the US.
Financial settlements from those decisions are expected to be realised in 2026.
BUMA International Group recorded positive free cash flow of US$8 million in 2025, reversing from a negative position of US$60 million in 2024.
Specifically in the fourth quarter of 2025, free cash flow reached US$57 million, the highest achievement of the year.
