Boosting Local Content in Indonesian Industry: Panasonic Produces Floor Standing PB5 Series AC Locally
PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia has demonstrated its commitment to supporting national industrial independence by producing the Floor Standing PB5 Series Commercial Air Conditioner (CAC) line locally at the PT Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia (PMI) factory, effective from July 2026.
Arif Gobel, Director of PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia, confirmed that through this localisation, Panasonic’s Floor Standing units have officially obtained Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification. “With a total value reaching 41.25 per cent, comprising both the TKDN value and the Company Benefit Weight (BMP),” Arif stated on Saturday, 1 August 2026.
He noted that this step is a concrete response from Panasonic to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 2 of 2022, which mandates the prioritisation of products with TKDN certification in Government Goods/Services Procurement. It also complies with the Ministry of Industry Regulation Number 35 of 2025 regarding the provisions and procedures for calculating and certifying the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) and Company Benefit Weight (BMP).
With this certification, Arif emphasised that Panasonic is ready to be a leading partner in providing high-quality domestically produced electronic devices. “We are very proud to produce the Floor Standing PB5 Series AC directly at the PMI factory. This step is not merely to meet regulations, but is tangible evidence of Panasonic’s ongoing contribution to strengthening the national economy and manufacturing industry,” said Arif. He added that by producing global-standard quality locally, the company aims to ensure that both government and corporate sectors can more easily access the best air conditioning solutions.
In addition to regulatory advantages, the Floor Standing PB5 Series serves as an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient air conditioning solution. All variants—including the 2PK 1-phase, 3PK 1-phase, 3PK 3-phase, and 5PK 3-phase capacities—utilise R32 refrigerant. This technology is ozone-friendly and capable of reducing Global Warming Potential (GWP) by up to 67 per cent compared to R410a refrigerant, while significantly improving electrical efficiency.
Hot Asi Eben Ezer Nababan, General Manager of AC Product Marketing at PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia, explained that the robust performance of these units is designed for dynamic commercial spaces, featuring an Auto Swing left-to-right function that distributes air evenly up to a distance of 11 metres.
