Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the government is accelerating the disbursement of regional transfers (TKD) to maintain economic activities in the regions and ensure that public services continue to operate smoothly. As of March 2026, TKD realisation has reached Rp204.8 trillion, or approximately 29.5% of the budget ceiling, which is higher than the 23.8% for the same period last year. According to Purbaya, this acceleration is being carried out so that regional spending can promptly stimulate the local economy. The TKD disbursement is utilised to support various primary needs of local governments, from employee expenditures and government operations to financing public services such as the education and health sectors. In addition, the government is providing relaxations in fund disbursements and additional allocations to several regions, including areas affected by disasters in Sumatra. This step is taken to ensure that regions still have sufficient fiscal space to maintain economic activities and public services. Nevertheless, the government notes that some TKD remains undisbursed due to pending fulfilment of requirements from local governments. “We monitor regional conditions month by month. If there is anything that needs assistance, we will step in,” Purbaya said during the APBN KiTA Media Briefing at the Ministry of Finance Office on Tuesday (5/5/2026). With this acceleration, the government hopes that regional spending can become one of the engines driving national economic growth throughout 2026.
