Boom! Trump Claims Total US Victory After Announcing Ceasefire

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - US President Donald Trump has officially announced a “major diplomatic victory” after successfully “forcing Iran to agree to a bilateral ceasefire”. Trump assured that the US will suspend bombings on Iranian energy infrastructure for two weeks, but with the absolute condition that Tehran surrenders and immediately fully opens the Strait of Hormuz without conditions.

Quoting an AFP report, Trump emphasised that this manoeuvre is the result of strong pressure from his administration, forcing Iran to send a 10-point proposal through Pakistani intermediaries. For him, Iran’s retreat is proof that Washington is now in the winning position in determining the direction of future negotiations.

“Iran’s 10-point proposal sent through Pakistan offers a workable basis for negotiation. However, I will order new airstrikes that will be destructive if no final agreement is reached by the new deadline,” Trump stated firmly on Wednesday (08/04/2026).

Although Trump claims to have secured victory, the Tehran side is attempting to build a counter-narrative. Iranian authorities claim that Washington’s willingness to halt airstrikes is actually a sign of the failure of Uncle Sam’s military aggression in their territory.

“This step is a historic and decisive defeat for the United States. Washington has been forced to accept Tehran’s 10-point plan as the basis for discussions,” an Iranian government representative claimed in its official statement.

In response to the situation that is beginning to thaw but remains tense, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has assured that delegations from both countries will soon meet face-to-face. This meeting will serve as a test for Trump’s claims in ending the global energy crisis.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced that negotiations with the US will begin on Friday (10/04/2026) in Islamabad, Pakistan, allocating a two-week period that can be extended based on mutual agreement.
