Book on Sri Sultan Hamengku Bawono IX's Thoughts, Works, and Example Launched

A book presenting the thoughts, works, and exemplary character of Sri Sultan Hamengku Bawono IX was launched at the National Library (Perpusnas) Theatre in Central Jakarta on Thursday. The book highlights his values of leadership, service, and character education for the nation’s generations.

In his keynote address, the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Bawono X, stated that his father’s example was not limited to his position and title but was reflected in how he carried out his responsibilities and service. He recalled how his father treated palace servants and ordinary people with the same respect afforded to state guests.

‘From him, I learned that the throne is not a privilege but a responsibility, that dharma is not a slogan but a daily practice, and that karsa is not personal ambition but the will to serve sincerely,’ said Sri Sultan Hamengku Bawono X.

The book launch was officially conducted by Sri Sultan Hamengku Bawono X, marked by the striking of a gong. The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Prof Abdul Mu’ti; the Head of the National Library, Prof E. Aminudin Aziz; the Head of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, Mego Pinandito; the Chair of the National Scout Movement Quarter, Budi Waseso; the Chair of the Yogyakarta Special Region Scout Movement Quarter, GKR Hayu; and the Chair of the Tunas Bakti Indonesia Emas Foundation, Acep Somantri.
