Bontang City Government Strengthens Future Generation Foundation Through Youth Pre-Marital Guidance

The Bontang City Government has emphasised the importance of building human resource quality through strengthening families from an early age. This effort was realised through the 2026 Bontang City School-Age Youth Pre-Marital Guidance, held by the Bontang City Sakinah Family Movement (GKS) at the MUI Hall in South Bontang on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. Anwar Sadat, Expert Staff for Government and Law of the Bontang City Government, who attended representing the Mayor of Bontang, stated that youth development is a crucial part of realising Bontang City’s development vision. “The teenagers sitting in this room today are future heads of families, future housewives, future leaders who will determine the face of Bontang in the future. Preparing them from an early age is the same as preparing the city’s foundation to stand stronger.” He added that providing guidance from school age is a long-term investment for regional development and urged all participants to take the opportunity seriously. He noted that the material provided is not only relevant for when they enter marriage but also serves as a provision for daily life. “Values about self-preservation, respecting others, and choosing good social circles are provisions that can be applied starting today, whether at school, at home, or in their respective environments,” he said. Carrying the theme “Be Knowledgeable First, Then Marry”, the activity aims to provide teenagers with an understanding of the importance of preparing themselves before entering domestic life. Muhammad Amir, Chairman of the Bontang City Sakinah Family Movement, said, “The message we want to convey is simple: complete your education and equip yourself with knowledge first, only then think about marriage. Do not be busy thinking about marriage before finishing your education.” This year, GKS invited around 100 participants from 10 state senior high schools and vocational schools in Bontang City, with each school sending 10 students. Several private schools were also invited. Through this activity, it is hoped that teenagers will not only understand the importance of a marriage that is mature in terms of religion and law, but also realise that education, character, and mental readiness are the main foundations for building a harmonious and high-quality family.
