Jakarta, VIVA – Senior political analyst Boni Hargens has revealed that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and its entire ranks have participated in maintaining socio-economic stability as an impact of the war in the Middle East, in accordance with directives from President Prabowo Subianto.

In the context of threats stemming from the dynamics of international conflicts, Boni Hargens stated, the TNI is taking a proactive stance to ensure that geopolitical turbulence in the Middle East region does not transform into a domestic economic crisis.

“The TNI’s role in maintaining national economic stability encompasses several strategic dimensions. On the infrastructure security side, TNI units are tasked with tightening surveillance at vital distribution points for energy, from oil refineries and fuel depots to distribution routes vulnerable to exploitation by illegal networks,” Boni Hargens told reporters on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

On the intelligence dimension, he said, the TNI is collaborating with the National Police (Polri) and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to build a comprehensive threat map. According to Hargens, information on the movements of networks misusing subsidies obtained through military intelligence networks provides valuable contributions to joint enforcement operations led by the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri).

“The TNI, together with other institutions such as Polri and BIN as well as other agencies or ministries, has concretely upheld the pillars of the Prabowo-Gibran commitment amid the dynamics of international conflicts, particularly first, providing protection for people’s subsidies where the government ensures that fuel and LPG subsidies are truly enjoyed by eligible groups in society, not misused by those who can afford it,” Boni explained.

Second, he continued, national energy resilience. The Prabowo-Gibran government, he said, is strengthening energy source diversification and expanding strategic storage capacity as a buffer against global price volatility. Third, emphasising the urgency of uncompromising law enforcement.

“The President has given full mandate to the TNI and Polri to crack down firmly on all forms of energy crimes that harm the state and the people. Then, isolation from external shocks by building a policy fortress that protects the domestic economy from the destructive impacts of international geopolitical conflicts,” he stressed.

Boni emphasised that the Prabowo-Gibran administration places domestic economic stability as an non-negotiable commitment. Amid an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment, he said, the government understands that domestic economic defence must be built from within.
