Bombers must repent

Bombers must repent

From Suara Karya

The bombs you detonated recently were terrifying, enough to cause panic and fear among us, which is clear evidence that you have achieved your goal. If you still can listen to our plea, please do not claim any more human lives the next time you decide to plant another bomb. We are well aware that it is not your intention to kill people. Think of the children that will be orphaned if their parents are killed in a bomb blast. Who will they then depend on? You may have children yourselves who need you to support them.

Perhaps you could pick as easy targets empty buildings, houses of worship or any other place as long as they are vacant. I believe you could create the same panic but the difference would be that damaged buildings can be restored or replaced, while human lives cannot. I agree that a bomb blast is less sensational if no human lives are involved. But, please, stop killing people, especially innocent ones.

There is one more thing that I would like to suggest. If you happen to be nabbed next time, please arrange a more plausible story of your escape so that we, the Indonesian people, will not hate our security officers, whose salaries come from the taxes that we pay every month.

The story about the recent escape of one suspected bomber does not hold water at all. How could the suspect, guarded by four armed security officers, get away simply because of a flat tire?

It is difficult to swallow that the four guards had to take care of the replacement of one flat tire. (I once worked as an assistant to the driver of a 12-ton truck and could change a tire on the truck alone).

Even if the suspect ran away, the four guards -- in good physical condition, well-trained and armed -- could have easily chased the suspect. (It is a pity the public does not know whether these four guards have been promoted in rank for this achievement because all we learned is that their commander was removed from his position).

Next time something like this occurs, please arrange the escape story with greater plausibility, for example by having the guards slightly wounded. Don't worry because the wounded guards will get medical treatment, again at the expense of taxpayers.

I believe you, the bombers, are still 100 percent human. By the way, perhaps a tip about the next place you choose as your bombing target? Don't worry, the worst that can happen to you is that you get to see the sketch of your face in the mass media. Find yourself arrested? Well, you can escape and this can be easily arranged. Inmates have even escaped from Cipinang Penitentiary.
