Bomb Threat Suspect at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi Officially Named as Suspect
South Jakarta Metro Police have officially named a man with the initials MY (34) as a suspect in the bomb threat case at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa. The act of terror was carried out by the perpetrator on the first day of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS), Monday (13/7). The Head of Criminal Investigation for the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Iskandarsyah, confirmed the legal status after investigators obtained at least two valid pieces of evidence. “He has been named a suspect. There are two pieces of evidence,” Iskandarsyah told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday (14/7). For his actions, MY is charged under Article 601 of the Criminal Code concerning terror threats. Based on the interim investigation, the suspect admitted to carrying out the reckless act for fun. However, the police are still investigating the real motive behind the threat that alarmed the school community. An interesting fact emerged that MY had previously sent a similar threatening message to the head of the neighbourhood association (RT) where he lives. However, at that time, the matter was resolved amicably after the RT head invited MY to communicate directly. The bomb terror began when a first-grade teacher and administrative staff received a private message via WhatsApp on Monday (13/7) morning, while the MPLS ceremony was underway. Jagakarsa Police Chief, Kompol Nurma Dewi, stated that the police immediately moved to check the crime scene after receiving a report from the school. In the short message, the terror suspect claimed to have prepared bombs at 11 points within the school grounds and threatened to detonate them within minutes. The perpetrator also warned the school not to report to the police. “Good morning and greetings of peace, be prepared that within minutes this SDN 15 Pagi school will explode and we have prepared 11 points,” read the threat message sent by the suspect.
