Bomb Threat Sender at South Jakarta Primary School Named as Suspect
Police have arrested MY (34), the perpetrator who sent a bomb threat to SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. Police have named MY as a suspect. “He has been named a suspect. We have two pieces of evidence,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Iskandarsyah to reporters on Tuesday (14/7/2026). MY has been charged under Article 601 of the Criminal Code concerning terror threats. The article states: Any person who uses Violence or the Threat of Violence with the intention of creating an atmosphere of terror or widespread fear or causing mass casualties by depriving independence or causing loss of life or property, or to cause damage or destruction to vital strategic objects, the environment, public facilities, or international facilities, shall be punished with a minimum imprisonment of 3 years and a maximum of 20 years or life imprisonment. Based on preliminary investigations, the perpetrator claimed he was joking when he sent the terror threat. Police are still investigating the perpetrator’s confession. The threat was sent while students were attending the morning assembly. After a sweep by the Gegana bomb squad and the Densus 88 counter-terrorism unit, no explosives were found at the location. Police revealed that the suspect, MY, is a parent of one of the pupils at the school. “After the perpetrator was secured, it turned out his child also attends the school,” said Dirkrimum Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Iman Imannudin on Monday (13/7). Iman said the perpetrator had picked up his child after sending the message. The students at the primary school were dismissed and sent home following the bomb threat.
