Bomb threat called a hoax
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Authorities said a bomb threat that forced the evacuation of a 51-story office building in the Malaysian capital on Friday was a hoax and allowed workers to reenter.
Earlier, security chief of the Malaysian mobile phone company, -- the Maxis building -- had said the company's chief operating officer had received a bomb threat by telephone on Friday morning.
Security officials ordered workers to evacuate the Maxis building and advised those in the 88-story Petronas Tower Two nearby to move away from the side of the building facing the Maxis building. The twin Petronas towers are the tallest buildings in the world.
After a police bomb disposal team swept the area, authorities allowed workers to return.
