Bomb Threat at South Jakarta School Ends in Arrest, Suspect Faces 20 Years

A man has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat at a state primary school in South Jakarta, police confirmed on Monday. The suspect, identified only by the initials MY, 34, was apprehended near the scene at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in the Jagakarsa district. The incident began when the suspect sent threatening messages via WhatsApp to teachers and administrative staff at the school. Police have since taken control of the situation and implemented maximum security measures. The suspect faces charges under anti-terrorism laws, with a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison. Authorities are planning to conduct a psychiatric evaluation to determine the suspect’s mental state. The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police have urged the public to remain calm and not be provoked by the incident.
