Bomb Threat at South Jakarta Primary School Received During Assembly, Students Evacuated
A WhatsApp message containing a bomb threat was received by SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The threat was received by the school while pupils and teachers were holding a flag ceremony on the first day of school after the long holiday.
“The report came in at 07.30 Western Indonesian Time, and indeed the WhatsApp was received while everyone was at the ceremony. The ceremony had just finished when we saw the message, and we all came straight away — the Camat (district head) and the Lurah (village head),” said the Head of Jagakarsa Police, Police Commissioner Nurma Dewi, when contacted on Monday (13 July 2026).
The bomb threat was sent via a private message to a teacher and the school’s administrative staff. Police immediately deployed to the location. The pupils were evacuated out of the school grounds.
“The children have been evacuated; we directed them to leave the school first,” she explained.
The Gegana team and Densus 88 counter-terrorism unit carried out a sweep, and the result was that no bomb was found at the location. Nevertheless, police were still conducting a thorough search.
“Nothing found so far, but we are still sweeping the area,” she added.
