Bomb Threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15, Police Hunt for Perpetrator and Motive
A bomb threat occurred at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on the first day of school, Monday (13/7/2026). The threat was conveyed via a WhatsApp message to teachers and education staff at the school. Jagakarsa Police Chief Kompol Nurma Dewi stated that police have traced the unknown number that sent the message. The tracking is being conducted to definitively identify the perpetrator of the threat. “So, we have traced the number and will continue to develop who the perpetrator is and what the motive is. That is clearly what we are looking for, the perpetrator and the motive,” she said on Monday. According to her, the police have also conducted a search of the school area. The search was carried out with the involvement of the Gegana bomb squad and the Densus 88 Anti-terror unit. Police also deployed K9 sniffer dogs to assist with the search. Nurma added that the police will also examine CCTV footage in and around the school area. This includes taking statements from witnesses. “So, we are currently developing it, we are checking. We will gather everything later, we will certainly look for everything, including evidence,” she said. Regarding subsequent school activities, Nurma said her party will coordinate with the DKI Jakarta Education Office. However, she assured that the police will provide a sense of security for the students at the school. “We will clearly coordinate with the school, with the Education Sub-department, and also ensure that everything is safe for schooling or the learning session,” she said.
