Bomb threat at JIS is false alarm
JAKARTA (JP): Police said yesterday that a bomb threat at the Jakarta International School (JIS) turned out to be a false alarm.
"After receiving a bomb threat at the school, we deployed a number of personnel to search the whole building but found no bomb," National Police spokesman Col. Hari Sutanto said yesterday.
Spokeswoman of the U.S. embassy Pamela Smith said that the school received a bomb threat from an unidentified person on Tuesday, forcing the school which is located on Jl. Terogong, South Jakarta, to evacuate its some 2,000 students and close early.
"We at the embassy contacted the police and the school, and the school decided to send the students home," Smith was quoted by a news agency as saying.
She, however, disclosed that the embassy has no information so far on the source or motive behind the threat against the school. (bsr)
