Bomb hoax at Menara BCD

JAKARTA: The Menara BCD office building on Jl. Jend. Sudirman Kav. 26, Central Jakarta, was the subject of a bomb hoax on Wednesday at 9:20 a.m.

The threat forced the building's management, PT Nico Central, to evacuate some 500 workers from 50 companies, mostly foreign ones, from the building.

PT Nico Central receptionist, Maemunah, received a phone call from an unidentified man saying that a bomb had been planted on the first floor of the building.

Maemunah, who worked on the eighth floor, reported the call to security.

Eight officers from the city police bomb squad arrived at the building an hour later. They thoroughly searched the 21-story building but did not find any bomb at all.

The situation returned to normal at around 2:30 p.m. but some of the employees were reportedly reluctant to go back to their offices and preferred to go home instead. -- JP
