Bomb Explodes Near Supreme Court Building in Damascus: 9 Dead, Bloodbath

A bomb explosion rocked a crowded café near the Supreme Court in central Damascus, Syria, on Thursday, resulting in multiple casualties. The Syrian Ministry of Health confirmed that the blast killed at least nine people and injured 20 others. The explosion occurred at 3:24 p.m. local time on al-Nasser Street in the al-Marjah district, in close proximity to the Palace of Justice. Syrian state media reported large-scale destruction caused by an improvised explosive device. Footage from the scene showed severe damage and blood covering the café floor. The Supreme Court building was hosting trials for senior officials from the former Bashar al-Assad regime at the time of the attack. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area amid fears of a secondary explosion. Damascus Governor Maher Marwan stated that the attack was aimed at destabilising the country as it progresses towards stability, adding that authorities are actively pursuing the perpetrators. The Ministry of Interior noted that investigations are ongoing to identify the sleeper cells responsible for the bombing.
