Bolkiah, Mahathir talk on terror
MALAYSIA: Visiting Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Monday exchanged views on terrorism and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, state media reported.
"The sultan shared the prime minister's views on this matter that it should be handled holistically and comprehensively," Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said, according to the official Bernama news agency.
War would not be the answer to resolving the problem of terrorism as it could cause suffering to innocent civilians, Syed Hamid, who briefed only the official media, said.
Malaysia also agreed to oil-rich Brunei's request to set up three new consulates in the eastern states of Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo island. -- AFP
