Bojong Canar Landfill Fire in Pandeglang Continues After 21 Hours

The Bojong Canar landfill, located in the Cikedal District of Pandeglang Regency, is currently on fire. As of now, the flames have not yet been extinguished.

The Secretary of BPBD-PK Pandeglang, Nana Mulyana, stated that the incident occurred on Monday (31/8) at approximately 16:00 WIB. Firefighting teams are still working to suppress the blaze.

“The fire has been burning for about 21 hours; it started yesterday afternoon and is still being handled,” he said on Monday (1/9/2026).

Mulyana noted that field teams are facing difficulties in extinguishing the fire because the flames are located at the base of the waste piles. Consequently, his office is coordinating with the Environmental Agency (LH) to deploy heavy machinery to break up the waste.

“We are attempting to break up the piles while spraying them with water; we are trying to use that technique,” he explained.

Mulyana added that this is the second time such an incident has occurred. However, he was unable to explain the cause of the fire.

“We cannot determine the cause yet because there were no witnesses, so we do not dare to state the origin. However, the main point is that there are several fire points within the landfill area,” he said.
