Bogus lecturer

Bogus lecturer

From Pikiran Rakyat

Between the months of June and September 1995 our relatives
were visited by a guest who looked smart and sympathetic and
carried a shiny briefcase and drove different cars. He said that
his name was Dr. H. Moch. Amin Hidayat, SE, and worked at
Padjadjaran University as a postgraduate lecturer. He also
claimed to be a coordinator of Primajasa Bus in Garut, West Java,
and a member of ICMI (Association of Indonesian Moslem
Intellectuals) of West Java.

My family was very impressed by his brilliant speech. He then
offered to help our unemployed members get a job in an attorney's
office and in PT Primajasa. He also said that he had a sister
working as head of the attorney's office in Surabaya, East Java
named Mrs. Hj. Mimi Barnama, SH.

Convinced by his words, many of our relatives wrote
application letters and prepared all the accompanying documents.
For all this and for the administrative cost, including the cost
of uniforms, training, our relatives submitted Rp 3 million,
which was paid in installments. He promised that the letters of
appointment would be issued in October 1995.

Day in and day out, my relatives did not get any news from the
gentleman. They checked his address only to find that it was a
fake address. Both Padjadjaran University and PT Primajasa knew
nothing about this man. Finally my relatives realized that they
had been cheated. The man was about 45 years old, 155 centimeters
tall with bald head and had dark skin. Readers, be warned.
