Bogus doctor sentenced for malpractice

JAYAPURA, Papua: A local district court on Friday sentenced a bogus doctor known by his initials DS, 34, to five months in jail for claiming to be able to enlarge the sexual organs of his male patients.

DS was arrested at his home at the heart of the city following a tip-off from patients who said they had been cheated. For the enlargement, each of them had to pay around Rp 100,000 to Rp 150,000 for a single injection.

At least 15 victims are currently receiving treatment at the province's hospital because they complained of severe pain after DS gave them an injection in their penis.
