In connection with the circulation of a letter on People's
Consultative Assembly (MPR) letterhead, numbered 179/MPR-RI/99
and bearing the signature of MPR vice chairman Hari Sabarno,
which offers a compilation of MPR decrees in book form, we
consider it necessary to clarify:
1. Hari Sabarno never made or signed the letter.
2. It is not written on MPR letterhead.
3. The letter mentions a post office box of the MPR. There is no
such P.O. Box.
4. Ironically, the letter professes to be an effort to overcome
the social impact of the monetary crisis by offering the
collection for Rp 550,000 per copy. The collection sells for Rp
10,000 per copy at the cooperative of the MPR secretariat
general.

The aforesaid letter also attaches a payment transfer form for
the Senayan branch of Bank Bali, account number 0912718433, under
the name Syarifuddin.

Government agencies and members of the public who receive this
offer should disregard it and report the matter to the
authorities.
