Bogowonto Train Collides with Motorcycle in East Jakarta, Disrupting Jakarta-Cikarang KRL Services

Passengers on the electric rail train (KRL) crowded at Manggarai Station in South Jakarta during rush hour on Wednesday (22/4/2026). Footage shared on the Instagram account @jalur5 showed one of the platforms for the Cikarang-bound KRL filled with passengers. The passengers were seen standing in front of the platform, with many having just descended the stairs to reach it. VP Corporate Secretary of PT KAI Commuter (KCI), Karina Amanda, stated that the overcrowding occurred due to a delay in the arrival of the Jakarta-Cikarang KRL. “Indeed, there was a slight delay on the commuter line earlier, resulting from the Bogowonto train hitting a motorcycle on the track between Jatinegara and Pasar Senen,” Karina said when contacted by Kompas.com via short message on Wednesday. Karina explained that the overcrowding happened around 3:55 PM WIB. However, approximately seven minutes later, train operations returned to normal. “We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident,” Karina added.
