Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim announced that the collapsed 8-metre-high retaining wall on Jalan Raya Kebon Pedes, Tanah Sareal, Bogor City, has begun to be repaired. The repair work carries a budget of Rp 5.4 billion.

“After the handover of the work site today, it is ready to be worked on immediately. Alhamdulillah, everything requires a process, because the budget had to be considered and the amount is quite large, around Rp 5.4 billion,” said Mayor Dedie Rachim in a written statement received by detikcom on Thursday (18/6/2026).

Dedie stated that the repair of the collapsed retaining wall is being carried out by the West Java Provincial Government through the Department of Highways and Spatial Planning (DBMPR) starting 17 June. When the landslide first occurred, the Bogor City Government carried out emergency handling through the City Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) together with other relevant agencies.

“The Kebon Pedes road section is a road under the authority of the West Java Provincial Government. This repair project is targeted to be completed within 150 calendar days,” said Dedie.

“The Kebon Pedes road section is a busy route frequently used by residents, especially in the mornings and afternoons. Traffic management will be implemented situationally during the construction period,” he added.

Dedie explained that the 8-metre-high and 12-metre-long retaining wall collapsed on 29 January. The landslide eroded the road surface of Jalan Kebon Pedes and disrupted traffic flow.

“This landslide was caused by various factors. One of them is the habit of residents dumping rubbish into the river, causing a buildup of waste that blocked the water flow,” said Dedie.

“As a result, the load on the wall became excessive and it eventually collapsed. So this habit of littering must be stopped immediately,” he stressed.
